Ganesha and the Moon
One day Ganesha was invited to a party. As a very sweet tooth, it consumes a large number of candy. While returning home his stomach ripped open by the weight of food eaten. Luckily it was night. In the hope that no one had seen him, he quickly tied his stomach with a snake. Unfortunately, the moon looked at him and burst out laughing.
Ganesha was angry and uttered a curse, the moon would be invisible from now on. The moon was ashamed of his action and asked for forgiveness. Ganesha also felt he had to hurriedly swear the moon. But because he could not back his curse, but they reduce the intensity, he proclaimed that the moon would wax and wane and would be invisible for just one day of the month, "Amavasya", which is still considered ominous.
